The next Newcomer’s Day takes place on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 at 7:30 PM.
Newcomer? Been away for a while? The Newcomer’s Day!
Let’s be honest: It often takes a lot of courage for many people to join a new group or go back to a place they haven’t been in a long time.
That’s why it’s easier when there’s a fixed date that’s specifically designed for people who want to join the Rosekids or those who haven’t been around for a while: Newcomers.
Some find it exciting and feel nervous when they meet a lot of new people they don’t know yet. “Will I like the people?” “What happens at the meetings?” – and even more importantly, “Will I be liked?” “What do others think of me?” “Will I act awkward?” “Can people tell that I’m nervous?” These are questions that almost everyone asks to some extent when joining a new group.
And coping strategies for such situations can vary greatly: Some talk a lot when they’re excited, while others prefer to stay calm and in the background. Anyone who has ever been the new person in a school class knows how it can feel in those situations.
What does “Newcomer’s Day” mean?
During the Newcomer’s Day, we’ll show you the facilities, you can ask questions, and we’ll also have one or two completely harmless icebreaker games (where no one has to speak in front of the group). Of course, you don’t have to participate in the games if you don’t want to.
What’s important to us at our meetings! – How do they actually go?
Voluntariness plays a crucial role in our meetings because we want to make it as easy as possible for you and everyone else to participate in our meetings and meet new people – all in a pleasant atmosphere.
That means specifically that you can come and go during our meeting times from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM whenever you want (but it’s a good idea to be there at 7:30 PM sharp for the Newcomer’s Day). How often and at what rhythm you attend the meetings is up to you. Our meetings are therefore absolutely non-binding – and also free of charge. If there are events or outings (such as bowling together, a group visit to the cinema, a weekend in a cabin…), you can decide for yourself whether you want to participate or not.
At our meetings, everyone can talk to everyone else however they like. Our meeting is a cozy and relaxed get-together.
You can bring your own drinks and snacks. But of course, you can also buy sweets or drinks from us if you want to…
