Association
That’s pretty easy! Just fill out our membership application and either bring it to the meetings or mail it to us.
There are also forms to fill out at the meetings.
No! Of course, we are happy about new members, because this support is important for us as an association.
However, we know that not everyone wants or can be member of an association.
For some people, membership in an association that obviously has something to do with being gay, lesbian or queer is not conceivable because they are afraid of being outed by it.
It is not a requirement to become a member of the association in order to participate the meetings.
Our offer is free and without obligation for you.
Newcomer day
Don’t worry, everyone was new here once. For the beginning, it is enough to just be there and listen, you don’t have to tell us everything about yourself right away.
The more often you are here, the easier it will be for you to talk to others.
The newcomer day takes place about every three months (you can find the dates here).
It is meant to make it a little easier for you to join us if you are new or haven’t been to our meetings in a while.
Of course, just because you are new, you don’t have to come on this day. You can also come to our meeting for the first time on any other Friday or Wednesday without any registration or commitment.
At the beginning, we lighten the atmosphere with a few harmless get-to-know-you games – there are mostly newcomers and teammates, so you don’t have to be excited.
Most people who have been coming for a while will show up a little later.
Drinks and nibbles will be available too.
After the get-to-know-you-games, there will be no further “program“.
Everyone can chat with everyone and get to know the others, just like at our regular meetings.
You can, may and should join us for the first time on any other Wednesday and Friday from 7:30pm.
So, there is no need to wait for the newcomer day if you want to come before.
The newcomer day should be an additional incentive for “newcomers” and enables us to take care of many newcomers at the same time in the best possible way – there are enough teamers at the same time on this day.
If you prefer, one of us will pick you up at a meeting point on newcomers day or any other Wed or Fri and go to the meeting with you.
You still have questions or want to be picked up?
Just send us a message.
We meet every Wednesday and Friday from 7:30pm until at least 10pm in the rooms of the Haus des Engagements (HdE). Rehlingstraße 9. Our spot is down in the basement.
The meetings usually also take place on school vacations and during legal holidays.
Special events, excursions, or if a meeting does not take place, will be found with an announcement in our blog on the main page.
If you can’t find us despite our directions, you can also still contact us.
No! In any case, you decide for yourself, if and when others find out that you’re queer.
We will not tell anyone.
No! You can and my come even if no one else knows that you are queer.
No one will find out from us either.
Our premises are very protected and used exclusively by us during our meetings.
No! Voluntariness is key in our meetings and very important.
You alone decide when to come during the meeting times (you don’t have to be there at exact 7:30pm) and when to leave (you don’t have to stay until the end)
You decide, if you want to come at all, how often and how regularly you want to attend the meetings.
Our meetings are always free of charge and without obligation.
Whether you want to help in any way with events that we organize or whether you want to become a member of the club is up to you.
There is no obligation to do so, even if you regularly attend out meetings.
No! You can just drop in. On Wednesdays and Fridays, there is always someone there from 7:30pm.
Of course, you can contact us beforehand if you want to, but that’s up to you.
We are also happy to have someone to pick you up at a meeting point (“Bring-In”) and walk with you to the meeting.
There’s also Meet & Talk: you just meet one of us for a chat, sleep on it and then decide, if you want to come along to a meeting.
Be brave! None of us will bite you and we are all totally sweet.
We are really happy to welcome new faces – including you.
You’re also welcome to bring a friend (who can be straight of course) to make you feel safer.
If you’d like to, you can also meet with one of us beforehand and you’ll go to the meetings together.
This will certainly take away a lot of your fear and excitement.
Another possibility: you come to the newcomer day.
Of course, one of us can also pick you up at a meeting point on that day and walk with you to the rooms.
Our group is very open and newcomers are quickly integrated.
After all, everyone has been “new to it” at some point and knows from their own experience how it feels.
You can – or you should – come to the Rosekids.
It’s totally okay, if you’re not sure (or totally unsure) and don’t really know yet “which pigeonhole” you belong in.
It will even help you if you can talk to others who feel similarly to you.
Yes, of course you can come, even if you are heterosexual.
But our target group members are mainly homosexuals, pansexuals, bisexuals and queer people.
Attendance at our meetings is free and without obligation.
So there are no dues or fees that you have to pay to attend the meetings.
You can also come and go when you want during the meetings.
If you want to drink Coke, Fanta, etc. or have a craving for sweets, chocolate bars or a pizza, you can buy it from us. With that, you support the Rosekids association, which needs the money to pay the costs for the meetings.
Coffee, tea and water are free of charge and it is of course allowed to bring your down drinks or food.
So, you don’t have to buy anything from us.
Of course you can. It doesn’t matter which sexual orientation your friend has.
That means of course your friend can be heterosexual and does not have to be queer.

No, sorry.
However, we will be happy to answer your questions about the meetings or our party and pick you up at a meeting point, for example to accompany you to our meetings.

Yes. The meetings also take place during school vacations and legal holidays.
If this is exceptionally not the case, we will point it out in the blog (main page of this website).
Most of the time on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the meeting is cancelled if these days fall on a Wednesday or Friday. But in any other case, it is on our website.
That could happen. However, we cannot promise that you will find a partner with us.
As you know, you cannot control who you fall in love with or when.
And the other person must also have feelings for you.
But you would not be the first to find your partner with us. So it is possible, but not certain.
No. Even though we are in Freiburg, out offer is not limited to people from Freiburg.
Teenagers and young adults from Freiburg and the surrounding area come to us. Some of us even come from further away: from Offenburg, Lahr, Basel, Müllheim, Lörrach, the Kaiserstuhl or the Black Forest to our meetings.
So it doesn’t matter if you are not directly from Freiburg. We are of course happy about people who are not from Freiburg.
If you don’t know Freiburg that well, one of us will pick you up at the train station and walk with you to the meetings.

It varies. Because there is no obligation to attend, not everyone comes every time and everyone can come and go during the meetings whenever they want.
Therefore, it is impossible to say how many people will be there on a give evening.
Usually, there are between 10 and 40 people per evening.
Sometimes a little less, sometimes a little more.
On average, there are about 20 people per evening.
On Fridays, there are usually more than Wednesdays.
You can find more information about that on our contact page.
It varies from evening to evening. If you are under 28 years old, it definitely fits
We have people who are between 14 and 17 as well as people who are between 18 and 27.
Everyone gets along well and any age differences don’t matter, because pretty much all age groups from 14 to 27 are there.
If you are under 14 years old, you can come, but you might be the youngest, but that doesn’t matter.
If you are over 27 years old, please contact primarily the Rosa Hilfe Freiburg, which also has some offers.
The meetings are a cozy get-together.
We don’t have a fixed program. Everyone can talk to each other, have a drink or eat a snack.
Program items such as BBQ together, cooking, theme nights, movies, mini-dance classes etc. are announced separately on the homepage.
If our rooms are closed due to an excursion, this will also be announced on the homepage.
It’s best to check again before you want to come to the meetings in our rooms.
Participation in program items is – just like the meeting themselves – voluntary.
Most of the time, we are in the rooms longer than 10pm.
In addition to the meetings, we also regularly offer special events, such as cottage weekends, participation in CSDs or excursions.
